Deacons, elders, and licensed local pastors lead Minnesota United Methodists to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Find resources for clergy ministry on this page.
Cindy Gregorson is director of ministries. Vivienne Pierce is administrative assistant. Contact them for consultation and information about clergy leadership, training, and continuing education in the Minnesota Conference.
Active clergy under appointment are invited to walk together in a shared experience, where alone and together they can engage in heart and soul work about our calling and our covenant as clergy in order to cultivate the missional imagination required to be courageous leaders for our time. For more information, click here. If you are interested in participating in this experience, contact Cindy Gregorson.
Clergy Leadership Academy
The New Clergy Leadership Academy has been renamed and expanded to include seasoned clergy who want a more intensive learning experience around the skills and practices for leadership in this changing culture and landscape of the 21st century. Twenty clergy will be accepted into the next academy, which begins in September. The academy requires a commitment of three years and five overnights during each of those years.
The topics this year are the five fruitful practices: radical hospitality, passionate worship, intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service, and extravagant generosity. The academy meets at Christ the King Retreat Center in Buffalo, and the cost is very reasonable at $500 a year. To learn more, click here. Those interested must write a letter of application to Cindy Gregorson and have the recommendation of their district superintendent to participate.

Status changes and leave requests
If you are planning a leave of absence or a status change (such as retirement), you must make a request of the Board of Ordained Ministry. Send your request (with reasons for the request) to the Board of Ordained Ministry. They will address your request at their next executive committee meeting. (They meet the second Thursday of most months.)
Funds are available to help clergy with pulpit supply (during renewal or education leave), short-term continuing education, counseling, spiritual direction or coaching, seminary loans, seminary debt retirement, licensing school, Course of Study, and student local pastor education. Read this description of available aid and links to the downloadable forms.
Chaplains are available to clergy for confidential conversation and consultation. Duane Gebhard is chaplain in the North Star District, Lynda Ellis is chaplain in the Big Waters district, Ken Bauman is chaplain in the River Valley District, Judith Lloyd is chaplain in the Southern Prairie District, and Ruth Johnston is chaplain in the Twin Cities District.
Want to serve in Minnesota?
We would like to hear from you. Know that we take very seriously the United Methodist covenant among elders to the itinerancy: elders are available to serve anywhere in the conference. Interested clergy should download and complete the Profile for Inquiring Clergy Form Packet. Submit these with a copy of your ordination certificate or credentials and a sermon recording and manuscript. Contact Cindy Gregorson for more information.
